What is an MD file?

Frequently asked questions

Is converting MD to HTML free?

Yes. Everyone gets 25 free credits a day, with no account needed. Conversions on our server use one credit per started minute of work, so most cost a single credit. Credits reset at midnight UTC.

Are my MD files uploaded anywhere?

Plain text, Markdown, HTML and Word files, and PDFs turned into pictures or text, are converted inside your browser and never leave your device. Other conversions, and files over 200 MB, are sent to our server over an encrypted connection and deleted 72 hours after the conversion; the server has no internet access while it works on your file. The button says "Upload and convert" whenever that happens.

How large can the MD file be?

Files up to 200 MB are converted right in your browser. Larger files, up to 1 GB, are converted on our server.

Will the HTML look the same as the MD?

The text and structure are kept: headings, lists, tables, bold and italic. Exact page layout, fonts and spacing may differ, because HTML is flowing text, not fixed pages.

Can I convert several MD files at once?

Yes. Add as many files as you like; they are converted one after another, and each one gets its own Download button.
