PSD is the working file of Adobe Photoshop. It keeps layers, masks and text, so files are large; converting gives the flattened picture that every program can open. PSD files can be saved as AVIF, BMP, EPS, GIF, ICO, JPG, PDF, PNG, PS, TIFF, WEBP, and most of these conversions run right in your browser, so your pictures stay on your device.

Frequently asked questions
What is a PSD file?
PSD is the working file of Adobe Photoshop. It keeps layers, masks and text, so files are large; converting gives the flattened picture that every program can open.
How do I open a PSD file?
Adobe Photoshop opens PSD files, and so do GIMP and Affinity Photo. To see the picture without them, convert it to PNG or JPG here.
Is converting PSD files free?
Yes. Everyone gets 25 free credits a day, with no account needed. Conversions on our server use one credit per started minute of work, so most cost a single credit. Credits reset at midnight UTC.
Are my PSD files uploaded anywhere?
Pictures up to 200 MB never leave your device: ConvertKitty converts them inside your browser, with ImageMagick compiled to WebAssembly. Only larger files, or formats your browser cannot handle (camera RAW, PostScript, XPS, LibreOffice and Publisher files, and video or audio), are sent to our server, over an encrypted connection, and deleted 72 hours after the conversion. The button says "Upload and convert" whenever that happens.
