What is a HEIC file?

HEIC – iPhone photo format. HEIC is the format iPhones and iPads save photos in by default. It uses HEVC video compression, so files are smaller than JPG at similar quality, but many Windows programs and websites cannot open it.

When the file records it, yes: the viewer shows the place as coordinates, read on your device. Tick "Remove location and camera data" to leave it out of the file you download.
