What is an LRF file?
LRF – Sony Reader e-book (LRF). LRF is the e-book format of Sony's older Reader devices.

PDF – PDF document. PDF is the document format that looks the same on every device: it fixes where each letter and picture goes on a page. It is made for reading and printing, not for editing.

Good to know
- The LRF e-book is converted by calibre. Copy-protected (DRM) e-books cannot be converted: ConvertKitty does not remove DRM, so use books you have bought without it or that are free of it.
- The e-book is typeset on pages of a standard size. The text flows to fit them, so page breaks are not those of a printed book.
Frequently asked questions
Is converting LRF to PDF free?
Yes. Everyone gets 25 free credits a day, with no account needed. Conversions on our server use one credit per started minute of work, so most cost a single credit. Credits reset at midnight UTC.
Are my LRF files uploaded anywhere?
This conversion runs on our server, because reading an LRF file needs calibre, which does not run in a browser. Your file is sent over an encrypted connection, and both it and the result are deleted 72 hours after the conversion. The server has no internet access while it works on your file.
How large can the LRF file be?
Up to 1 GB per file. This conversion runs on our server, which accepts files up to that size.
Will the PDF look the same as the LRF?
The text, chapters and pictures are kept. The look can differ: PDF readers use their own fonts and page sizes, so page breaks move.
Can I convert several LRF files at once?
Yes. Add as many files as you like; they are converted one after another, and each one gets its own Download button.
How long does converting LRF to PDF take?
In our tests a 4 MB novel of 400 chapters took about two minutes to become a PDF file of 2,000 pages. Most books are far smaller and take a few seconds.
