- WOFF2 is for web pages: load it with @font-face in your style sheet. Operating systems do not install it.
- Check the font's licence before converting and using it: ConvertKitty does not look at what the licence allows.
Frequently asked questions
Is converting OTF to WOFF2 free?
Yes. Everyone gets 25 free credits a day, with no account needed. Conversions on our server use one credit per started minute of work, so most cost a single credit. Credits reset at midnight UTC.
Are my OTF files uploaded anywhere?
This conversion runs on our server, because converting fonts needs FontForge, which does not run in a browser. Your file is sent over an encrypted connection, and both it and the result are deleted 72 hours after the conversion. The server has no internet access while it works on your file.
How large can the OTF file be?
Up to 1 GB per file. This conversion runs on our server, which accepts files up to that size.
Will the WOFF2 look the same as the OTF?
Yes: the letter shapes, spacing and kerning are kept. Hinting, the instructions that sharpen small text on old screens, is made again or left out, and you will not see the difference on modern screens.
Can I convert several OTF files at once?
Yes. Add as many files as you like; they are converted one after another, and each one gets its own Download button.
How long does converting OTF to WOFF2 take?
In our tests even a font with 60,000 glyphs took between 1 and 9 seconds to convert; ordinary fonts finish in a moment.
