What is a RAW file?
RAW – Camera RAW photo. RAW is a generic extension several camera makers use for the data straight from the sensor. The layout differs from maker to maker, so a program has to know the camera to turn the file into a picture.

Good to know
- Choose a quality in Options: lower numbers make a smaller AVIF with less detail.
- RAW files are developed on our server with the camera's own white balance, then saved as AVIF. Expect a good-looking picture, not a replacement for your RAW editor.
- Tick Remove metadata in Options to leave out information stored in the picture, such as the camera and the place.

Is converting RAW to AVIF free?
Yes. Everyone gets 25 free credits a day, with no account needed. Conversions on our server use one credit per started minute of work, so most cost a single credit. Credits reset at midnight UTC.
Are my RAW pictures uploaded anywhere?
This conversion runs on our server, because a browser can't develop camera RAW files. Your file is sent over an encrypted connection, and both it and the result are deleted 72 hours after the conversion.
How large can the RAW file be?
Up to 1 GB per file. This conversion runs on our server, which accepts files up to that size.
Can I change the size or quality of the AVIF?
Yes. Click Options next to the file to set a width and height, choose a quality, remove metadata and more. Only the settings that make sense for RAW to AVIF are shown.
