What is an RB file?
RB – Rocket e-book. RB is the e-book format of the Rocket eBook, one of the first e-readers (1998).
RB Converter →What is an OEB file?
OEB – OEB e-book (a folder of files, in a ZIP). OEB (Open eBook) is the folder of files, with an OPF package file, that EPUB grew out of. The result comes as a ZIP of that folder.

Good to know
- The RB e-book is converted by calibre. Copy-protected (DRM) e-books cannot be converted: ConvertKitty does not remove DRM, so use books you have bought without it or that are free of it.
- The OEB e-book is made by calibre from the text, headings and pictures of the RB file; a cover is not created.
- An OEB e-book is a folder of files, so it comes back as a ZIP of that folder.
Frequently asked questions
Is converting RB to OEB free?
Yes. Everyone gets 25 free credits a day, with no account needed. Conversions on our server use one credit per started minute of work, so most cost a single credit. Credits reset at midnight UTC.
Are my RB files uploaded anywhere?
This conversion runs on our server, because reading an RB file needs calibre, which does not run in a browser. Your file is sent over an encrypted connection, and both it and the result are deleted 72 hours after the conversion. The server has no internet access while it works on your file.
How large can the RB file be?
Up to 1 GB per file. This conversion runs on our server, which accepts files up to that size.
Will the OEB look the same as the RB?
The text, chapters and pictures are kept. The look can differ: OEB readers use their own fonts and page sizes, so page breaks move.
Can I convert several RB files at once?
Yes. Add as many files as you like; they are converted one after another, and each one gets its own Download button.
