What is a CBR file?
CBR – Comic book archive (RAR). CBR is a comic book archive: a RAR file of one picture for each page. Comic readers open it, but it is harder to make than CBZ because RAR is a proprietary format.

- The CBR e-book is converted by calibre. Copy-protected (DRM) e-books cannot be converted: ConvertKitty does not remove DRM, so use books you have bought without it or that are free of it.
- A comic book is a picture for each page, so the OEB holds the pictures, not text.
- The OEB e-book is made by calibre from the text, headings and pictures of the CBR file; a cover is not created.
- An OEB e-book is a folder of files, so it comes back as a ZIP of that folder.

Will the OEB look the same as the CBR?
The text, chapters and pictures are kept. The look can differ: OEB readers use their own fonts and page sizes, so page breaks move.
